The Friends are pleased to announce another “grand re-opening” on May 1. It’s the Friends’ new Back Door Bookstore (formerly the Book Nook), now located on the library’s lower level.
The entrance to the Back Door Bookstore is located outside on the west (alley) side of the library, next to the loading dock, and just across from the Museum of Neon Art (MONA).
Friends member and volunteer Peter Breckheimer coordinates the bookstore, which is staffed by volunteers. The bookstore schedule will be set following the re-opening. “Dock sales” will be held on the second Saturday of each month from 9am to 2pm.
The bookstore has capacity for about 7,000 volumes. Most are conveniently arranged in categories, including fiction, science, religion, behavior, art/travel, crafts, photography, history, theater, biography and children. Prices range from $1 to about $8.
Selected high-value books are offered for sale on Amazon.com. Proceeds from these sales also go to the Friends in support of library programs.
Donations of books, CDs and DVDs are greatly appreciated. Donations may be brought to the Central Library “back door” from 9am to 5pm, weekdays, or to branch libraries when they are open.
Persons interested in volunteering at the bookstore may contact Peter Breckheimer at 818-267-7989, or by email at: email@example.com.
