Thanks to dignitaries Carl and Lynne Raggio for their significant donation of books for our Back Door Bookstore inventory! They treasure the Glendale Public Library system and thought of us first when deciding to trim their book collection. They also agreed to a photo opp advertising our call for book donations!
Carl Raggio is a former mayor of Glendale. Lynne Raggio has been recognized by the Glendale Commission on the Status of Women for her tremendous leadership in the community. During downsizing, the couple contacted us about donating carloads of books in installments. Book Sales VP Peter Breckheimer was on hand at our new Back Door to receive their first carload.
Want to donate books and need directions? From Brand Blvd., turn east onto Harvard St. (it’s Americana Way on the west), then an immediate right into the alleyway before you get to Maryland. Ahead on the left, a driveway angles down into the Central Library receiving dock. You can park there temporarily if the dock is closed. The Back Door is visible from this renovated alleyway / parking area (Lot 10) between Central Library and Brand Blvd. The City of Glendale has given it a complete refresh, with landscaping, expanded parking, and pedestrian walkway access in all directions.
Walk to the back door visible from the driveway, and ring the doorbell. Book donations are accepted at Central Library from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Donations are also accepted at Glendale library branches.
