Paula Massadas Pereira, who took English as a Second Language classes as an adult and is now a community college librarian and author / advocate of ESL learning, spoke to Glendale Public Library Literacy program volunteers and students at a December potluck celebration.
Each literacy program student got a completion certificate and a copy of Pereira’s book How I Learned English. The book describes the challenges a young woman faces when she immigrates to the U.S.; its purpose is to motivate English learners to become proficient!
The Friends work to provide funds for literacy and other programming. We are very pleased to congratulate students who have improved their English-language speaking and reading skills through the Glendale Public Library’s program!
