Please mark your calendar and attend our Annual General Membership Meeting and Board of Directors Election, Wednesday, May 25, 2016, 6:30 p.m., at Glendale’s Adult Recreation Center, 201 E. Colorado Blvd., Glendale 91205.
Plan to stay for the special One Book One Glendale author program at 7:00 p.m.:
This is an important transitional year not only for the Glendale Library system, but for the Friends of the Glendale Public Library as well. (Check out the video episodes Library, Arts & Culture is producing to keep patrons informed.)
A new Maker Space, more digital workstations, a Man’s Inhumanity to Man collection room, a second floor quiet reading area, and improved pedestrian access and connections to the downtown scene are some of the amenities we are looking forward to when the Central Library renovation is complete.
The membership meeting will briefly cover:
The larger, reconfigured book store space we will have after the renovation, located on the Central Library’s lower level, with a public entrance on the west side of the building.
Also there will be our office for processing memberships and online sales of donated books and materials. We hope to expand sales to add to our bottom line with branded merchandise and rebuilt store inventory, and we will need volunteers to staff our store!
A new series of programs, author talks, and events jointly sponsored with other civic organizations are in the works.
We continue to expand our online outreach and hope to reach 2,000 members!
Please come to the meeting, then stay to hear Nina Revoyr! Also: stay engaged, stay current with your membership, and encourage your friends and neighbors to join us in supporting our library system for the benefit of our entire community!
